David Pearson 1946-2021

David Pearson was a kind, gentle, and generous soul. He passed away peacefully at home on August 16, 2021. He had a cool style from his hats to his motorcycle and a good sense of humor. He was a fun-loving person and gave great hugs.

David was born December 13, 1946 to a large extended family in Vallejo. He graduated from Vallejo High School. After receiving a full scholarship to attend USF, he dropped out of college and ROTC program after two years and became a conscious objector during the Vietnam War.

In San Francisco in the Haight Ashbury, he worked for Bank of America as a courier. During that time he worked as cab driver and Fed Ex driver. He was also trained in bodywork and worked as a masseuse and manager for training bodyworkers.

It was at Fed Ex that he met and married fellow driver, Dannelle Sirrine. They divorced after twenty years of marriage.

David loved music of all kinds but mostly that music without words. He rarely missed the Santa Rosa Symphony and the New Orleans jazz festival. He would fly to the festival in a jump seat on a Fed Ex flight to New Orleans. Good times!

He regularly attended the Center for Spiritual Living and took many classes there. He especially enjoyed Dr. Kim Kaiser’s classes and signed up for many of those. As he was raised Catholic, the Science of Mind philosophy was new information which he took in with an all-consuming vigor. He volunteered at the Center in many capacities – writing and organizing in the office and singing in the choir. He would be the first to stack or arrange chairs which is a mainstay of volunteers. He often attended group meditation and Kirtan at the Center.

On his Facebook page, he published cartoons, wildlife photos, words of wisdom, and messages of love which he mirrored in life.

David is predeceased by his father, Walter Rockwood, his mother, Marco Pearson, his adopted father, Carl Pearson, older brother Jim, and nephew Jimmy.  He is survived by two nieces, Carrie and Christine.

  1. I loved Dave and will miss him. During the pandemic we threw caution to the wind in the parking lot at Olivers and shared a hug. It was precious. Blessings on your journey, Dave! ❤️
