Micah Price

Some of you have maybe heard this horrible tragic news today. My son Micah Price passed away yesterday. This beautiful gentle loving soul is now an angel that is with us always in our hearts and soul. Thank you for the outpouring of love. Karl Kang his husband, Curtis Ebner my partner, and Scott Price his father are devastated as well as his many family members, his huge circle of friends and the students and staff at Healdsburg school where Micah taught. I am not sure how we will go on without Micah walking on this earth alongside us but we must try.

Micah was my best friend we loved each other more than life itself. He knew how much you all loved him, he told me often how lucky he was.

Thank you for the tremendous outpouring of love. We will have a virtual service for Micah on Sunday, January 31, 2021 at 3 pm Pacific Time.

Please add your memories of Micah in the comments to this post.

From Micah's professional page at the Healdsburg School:

Middle School Social Studies, MICAH PRICE, is a certified educator with a Masters in Education from UC Santa Cruz. He is entering his sixth year at THS and his 11th year of teaching overall. He has taught courses in English, IB MYP Humanities, Geography, History, and French to students from grades five to eleven. Micah’s core teaching philosophy is focused on the development of higher-order thinking skills, preparation for higher education, and social justice. Carrying an enthusiasm for travel and immersion in a variety of cultures, he brings an especially international and anthropologic approach to the classroom.

Additionally, he uses his strong educational background to provide a student-centered and progressive teaching methodology in-class lessons, always holding his students to a high standard. He has extensive experience working with scholars from around the globe, having been employed at international schools in Thailand, China, and Switzerland for over five years before coming to work at THS. He founded and coaches the World Scholars Cup Club at THS, one of the first in California, which has students competing in debate, writing, and other academic skills. In summer 2019, he was honored to earn the “Coach of the Year” award at a competition in the Netherlands where 51 countries were represented. His students have also competed in Global Rounds in Athens, Barcelona, and at Yale University, taking home an abundance of accolades. Micah never takes for granted how blessed he is to be a member of The Healdsburg School community and teaching team!

  1. I will never forgot our 16 hour drive from San Francisco to Yellowstone National Park where we camped for three days and trying to set up a tent in the pouring rain. Micha would always be up bright and early to start breakfast on the camp stove, and we had the full works, pan cakes, eggs, bacon, beans. We have an amazing time in Yellowstone and saw some incredible things and then our epic 4 hour hike around the Grand Teton National Park. Micha planned most of it and we had such a memorable time. Thank you Micha, we will never forget you. Rest in peace friend.

  2. Joni, We didn't know Micah and after reading about him I am so impressed with his life! We wish we had been closer to you and Curt over these last few years, so we might have had an opportunity to meet your brilliant, handsome son. I can see how difficult the change will be in your life. God bless you and give you peace and comfort that your heart deserves.

  3. I met Micah in Switzerland. He was a very dedicated and helpful colleague. I also know that he was a very caring, fun and loved teacher. Most importantly he was a beautiful human being, so alive and so much fun to be around. We often spoke French together. We stayed in touch after we both left Switzerland and managed to see each other a few years back in San Francisco where he showed me around his favorite spots in the city.
I will always remember him as a kind, trustworthy and brilliant friend.
I am very sad that he had to leave so early but will keep him in my heart and memories.
I am truly sorry for your loss, i am sending love and strength to you, his beautiful family that he loved so much.
I have this quote in mind when thinking about Micah.
‘There are some who bring a light so great to the world that even after they have gone, the light remains’.
Micah will remain a bright light in so many lives.

  5. Micah, it was an adventure getting to know you! Who would have thought two kids from Northern California teaching at the same school in Switzerland. It was meant to be. We shared so many travels together and stories. Even learning how to ski together. I am so glad we kept in touch when we both came back to California. You always made a point to reach out to me and I was always better for it. Thank you for being a great travel buddy in Europe and life. Sending all my love to you and always.....
