Reverend Marilyn Mooney - July 22, 2010

Rev. Marilyn Dee Mooney peacefully made her transition July 22, 2010 at home in Windsor. She was born August 12, 1937, grew up in Oklahoma, attended high school in Ventura, CA, and graduated from San Jose State in 1959. She was an elementary teacher until her own children were born. After her husband's death, she trained as a Religious Science minister and did her interim ministry in San Francisco while raising her boys. Rev. Marilyn started a Religious Science church in Windsor with Rev. Nancy Black Willard in the 1980's, then moved on to what is now the Center for Spiritual Living, Santa Rosa, where she held a Letter of Call as Staff Minister since 1993.

She was the heart of the practitioner body there, beloved by the 100-plus practitioners she guided in service. She loved God, her family, and her church, and her heart was big enough to hold them all. She is survived by her sons Scott and Sean; her grandchildren April, Gabriel, Ayla, Noah, and Forest; and great granddaughter MacKenzie. She also leaves a beloved extended family, including Denine Andserson, Rosie Barand, Laurie O'Brien, Kay Simoni, Amy Moutray, Lucky Lloyd, Gerry Krautheim, Mark Carson, Louis Mafey, and Chester Simoni. There are others, too many to list, who held a special place in her heart, including those who supported her in her last days. There are many who will miss her.

A Celebration of her life will be held at The Center for Spiritual Living, 2075 Occidental Rd., on August 28th at 2:00 p.m. All are welcome.
